    Early Life And Education

    Amruta Khanvilkar was born to a Marathi family on November 23, 1984, in Mumbai. She completed her schooling at the Karnataka High School in Pune and received her degree in commerce from the Marathwada Mitra Mandal College in Pune. She dreamed of becoming a film actor since she was a child.

    Career

    In 2004

    Khanvilkar started her career in 2004 as a contestant on Zee Cine Star ki Khoj, which is one of the first reality programs on Indian television. That same year, she co-starred with Amitabh Bhattacharjee in the Hindi short film Saanjh, which was produced by the Film and Television Institute of India and won the National Film Award for Best Non-Feature Film. This resulted in her additional appearances on the television programs Time Bomb 9/11 and A.D.A. in 2005.

    Khanvilkar made her acting debut in the 2006 Marathi comedy Golmaal, where she starred with Bharat Jadhav and Jitendra Joshi. The film received positive reviews for Khanvilkar's performance.

    She made her Hindi cinema debut in the 2007 movie Mumbai Salsa, playing Manjari Phadnis' nymphomaniacal flatmate, a woman with uncontrollable sexual desire. Her performance in the movie was praised as "excellent" by Bollywood Hungama reviewer Taran Adarsh. She then made a brief appearance in Hattrick (2007) by Milan Luthria. Saade Maade Teen, a remake of the 1958 Hindi film Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, was Khanvilkar's biggest commercial win of that year. The character she played was inspired by Madhubala's portrayal of a wealthy orphan living with her uncle who falls in love with the owner of the garage. The movie made 3 crores, making it one of the highest-grossing Marathi movies of that time.
