“Of all the skirts that chase your pretty boy face, you fall for the one who scares the piss out of all of us here, and we're used to bitchy women!”
That was, wellpretty damn perfect. It had so many of the things I love about a good romance- laughs, snark, bookworms (YAYYY), healing, no insta-love, no big misunderstanding due to a simple lack of communication, and steam-though that was subtle and a lot tamer than what I usually read, it totally fit with the story. I really just loved everything about this. Gabby was just I love a heroine full of piss and vinegar and that fact that Shane not only loved that about her, but took great joy in winding her up just so that she would snark at him was friggin awesome. Such a great read, Amy Gregory definitely turned me into an insta-fan with this one.
What the hell was she thinking? She was a realist, one hundred percent. Women like her did not get guys like him, and they sure as shit didn't get happy endings.
Gabby James may have had a small town upbringing, being raised in Renlend Kansas, he life however was anything but serene. Bullied and harassed at school relentlessly, high school becomes nothing more than four years of hell. Her only escape was within the walls of her family's bookstore 'The Looking Glass'. In there, she could loose herself in her books and eventually writing her own stories. That same store is the reason she doesn't flee town like she wants to the minute she graduates. She's trapped in the town that has made her miserable for so many years, but she couldn't bare to leave the bookstore behind and when she has the opportunity to take over ownership from her parents- she jumps at the chance. Years of abuse at the hands of her peers has turned her into a snarky recluse, but she has her bookstore and a secret no one in town, save one, knows about.

1. | Untitled, Part I | lyrics
Eskimeaux, your eyes are bigger than your heart the knife scrapes where you thought there was more to spread you're ignoring your heart of hearts you won't learn to walk but you'll dive into the deepest river scared and never alone you're there, bare and trembling swear under your breath you're a prisoner of your bedroom every shoulder's already wet and no one wants to hear the same story again fortify your heavy chest run away out west where no one will know you scared and never alone you're there, bare and trembling swear under your breath you're a prisoner of your bedroom silently creeping out the door trying to find warmth in another bed you should be cold and alone you have brought this one too close to home

Thumbing my igloo and grasping my snail my hands in my pockets, my body feeling frail I guess I had hoped that even in your flight you'd leave me with something you'd leave your ghost behind Then I mistook the wind in my hair for your mouth in my mouth, I thought you were really there I guess I'd hoped that even in your flight you'd leave me with something you'd leave your ghost behind
3. | Angels, Angels | lyrics
Wings pressed up against you tucked between the sheets little angel reprobate you were built to break me Feathers falling from you are all that I can take bones of solid marble none that I could ever break wings pressed up against you between the messy sheets little angel reprobate you were built to break me
