It is little over a month since music composer Aadesh Shrivastavalost his battle with cancer. However, not a day goes by without the Indian cinema icon Amitabh Bachchanremembering his friend. Despite having a 22-year age gap, the duo had a very strong friendship. Sources say that when Big B learnt about Aadesh’s terminal illness, not only was he heartbroken but he also took it upon himself to learn everything that he could about the late composer’s medical condition.A source close to both the actor and the composer, says that it was the Bollywood icon who came forward and bore all the expenses of Aadesh’s treatment in India and overseas.
But that is still not what their friendship was all about. It was the fact that though he was devastated with the news of Aadesh’s illness, Big B took it upon himself to keep the music composer’s spirits high. Late into the night, the megastar would go to Aadesh’s music studio and the two of them would create tunes and sing. Never once did the veteran let it be known to Aadesh that he had any count to worry. What is most touching now is the fact that Bachchan has roped in Aadesh’s son, Anivesh, to compose music for one of his upcoming television shows, which is about to go on air shortly.

Initially, he had worked as a drummer to music composers including R. D. Burman, Rajesh Roshan before working independently as a music director. Over the course of his career, he had composed music for over 100 Hindi films. Just a day after he turned 51, he died of cancer in Kokilaben Hospital. Born in a Hindu Kayastha family in Katni, Shrivastava got his first big break with the film Kanyadaan in 1993. Among the singers who sang in this movie, there was Lata Mangeshkar who sang his first song - Oh Sajna Dilbar, a duet with Udit Narayan, which became popular on the radio. But the film and the rest of the songs went unnoticed. The same thing happened with Jaane Tamanna, but he bounced back with Aao Pyaar Karen. One track "Haathon Mein Aa Gaya Jo Kal" was a hit. His other films are Salma Pe Dil Aa Gaya and Shastra. The song "Kya Ada Kya Jalwe Tere Paro", from the film Shastra got him in the limelight once again. In 1995, Shrivastava was a judge on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. Shrivastava sang a number of hit songs such as "Sona Sona", "Shava Shava", "Gustakhiyaan" and "Gur Nalon Ishq Mitha". He won accolades for his work in Kunwara, Tarkieb and Shikari in the year 2000. In 2001, his success continued with the movie Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai. Chitresh was travelling from New York to Chicago with the singer when the accident took place. Rahat, however, survived the crash as he got out of the car minutes before and decided to join his musical troupe in a bus that was accompanying the car.
Bollywood composer Aadesh, who is currently recuperating from cancer, has now vowed to raise his brother’s children as his own.Barely able to speak, Aadesh says, “My brother, who was Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s business manager in India, was driving back from Detroit to Chicago after a concert. Rahat, Chitresh and three others were in a Lexus car, while the rest of the troupe were in a bus. They all stopped at a petrol station to freshen up and after that Rahat announced he’d get into the bus with the rest of the troupe. My brother and two others drove off in the car which skidded and spun around about eight times. During the spins, the door of the car opened and my brother fell out. Chitresh died instantaneously.”
Aadesh breaks down thinking about the nightmare. “My brother had to go. Rahat escaped. Do you know Chitresh had been under so much pressure from the time Rahat was discovered with unaccounted dollars at the Delhi airport? What wrong had Chitresh done? He has never cheated. As a show organizer his dealings were always above-board and legal,” he says.
Aadesh goes on to add, “The Indian government hounded him because they couldn’t touch Rahat. They had to send Rahat back to Pakistan, so my brother became the scapegoat. Do you know, dada (Chitresh) offered to return all the money?
