    Prince Ali bin Al Hussein (Arabic: الأمير علي بن الحسين; born 23 December 1975) is the third son of King Hussein of Jordan, and the second child of the king by his third wife, Queen Alia. He is also the half brother of King Abdullah II. He is a member of the Hashemite family, which has ruled Jordan since 1921 and claims to be a descendant of the Islamic prophet Muhammad.

    In September 2015, Prince Ali announced his candidacy in the FIFA presidential election following Sepp Blatter's resignation.

    Early life and education

    Prince Ali began his primary education at the Islamic Educational College in Amman. He continued his studies in the United Kingdom, the United States and graduated from Salisbury School in Connecticut in 1993, where he excelled in wrestling.

    Prince Ali is fluent in Arabic, English, and Circassian.

    In 1998 Prince Ali went on a publicized horseback journey to the Caucasus (Circassia), from Jordan through Syria and Turkey, to raise awareness of the Circassian diaspora worldwide. The trip traced (in reverse) the path of the exodus that brought the Circassians to Jordan.

    He is married to Rym Brahimi, they married on September 7, 2004. She is the daughter of Lakhdar Brahimi, former Algerian Minister for Foreign Affairs and senior UN official. She was raised in Great Britain and Algeria

    Princess Haya of Jordan

    Princess Haya bint Al Hussein of Jordan was born on May 3, 1974. She is the daughter of King Hussein of Jordan and his third wife, Queen Alia (the former Alia Baha Ad-Din Touqan). Just a few months before her third birthday, her mother died in a helicopter crash. Haya and her siblings were raised by her father and his fourth wife, Queen Noor, who were married in 1978.

    Haya has a younger brother and an older adopted sister:

    Jordanian Princess Haya Bint Al-Hussein was the first Arab woman to compete internationally in equestrian, winning a bronze medal at the 1992 Pan-Arab Equestrian Games. In 1993 she was named Jordan’s Athlete of the Year and she competed at the 2000 Sydney Olympics in show jumping.

    HRH Princess Haya was elected President of the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) in 2006 and served in that role through 2014, when she resigned to avoid conflict of interest issues related to possible doping violations by her then husband. She was a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) from 2007-14, at which time she had to step down as she was no longer President of the FEI.

    HRH Princess Haya was educated in Britain, graduating from St. Hilda’s College, Oxford with degrees in philosophy, politics, and economics. The daughter of King Hussein of Jordan, from 2004-19 she was married to the ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum.

    In the late 2000s HRH Princess Haya owned several racehorses, notably Raven’s Pass, who won the 2008 Breeders’ Cup Classic, and New Approach, who won the 2008 Epsom Derby. For her contributions to equine sport, she was made the first Patron of Retraining of Racehorses.

    HRH Princess Haya has become known for her charitable and philanthropic work. In 2003 she founded Tkiyet Um Ali, the first food aid non-governmental organization (NGO) in the Arab word. She was the first Arab woman to become Goodwill Ambassador for the World Food Programme (2005-07). She served as President of the International Jordanian Athletes Cultural Association, which she founded to provide athletes with needed national incentive and support. UN Secretary General Ban Gi-Mun appointed her a UN Messenger of Peace in 2007. She also chaired Dubai’s International Humanitarian City, the world’s largest center for the delivery of aid, both in emergencies and for long-term development.

    Princess Haya bint Al Hussein (Arabic: الأميرة هيا بنت الحسين; born 3 May 1974) is the daughter of King Hussein of Jordan and his third wife, Queen Alia. She is the half-sister of King Abdullah II.

    Haya is a graduate of the University of Oxford in England and an accomplished equestrian. She represented Jordan at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and is the two-term President of the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI).

    In 2004, Haya became the second official wife of the ruler of the Emirate of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. They had two children, Sheikha Jalila and Sheikh Zayed. In 2019, Haya and Mohammed divorced, and she left Dubai with her children to reside in the United Kingdom. Legal proceedings between Haya and Mohammed before the High Court in London over custody of their children attracted considerable media attention. On 5 March 2020, a British court ruled that on the balance of probabilities, Sheikh Mohammed, the absolute ruler of Dubai and the prime minister of the UAE, had abducted two of his daughters, Shamsa and Latifa, and had threatened Haya.

    In March 2022, the court awarded sole custody of the couple's two children to Haya.
