Bihar transfers nine senior IPS officers

2987Patna (14.09.2024): The Bihar government on Friday reshuffled nine IPS officers that included eight ADGP rank and one in the rank of DIG. The names of these officers are as follows:
- Pankaj Kumar Darad (IPS: 1995: BH) has been appointed as ADGP, Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) with additional charge of the ADGP, Special Vigilance Unit (SVU).
- S Ravindran (IPS: 1995: BH) has been appointed as ADGP, Bihar State Sports Authority with additional charge of the Director General, Bihar State Sports Academy, Rajgir.
- Amit Kumar Jain (IPS: 1995: BH), ADGP, Bihar Human Rights Commission, has been given the additional charge of the ADGP, weaker section, in the Crime Investigation Department (CID).
- Sudhanshu Kumar (IPS: 1996: BH), ADGP (traffic), has been given additional charge of the Additional Commissioner, Civil Defense.
- Sunil Kumar (IPS: 1996: BH), ADGP (Special Branch), has been given the additional charge of the ADGP, Economic Offence Unit (EOU).
- Kamal Kishore Singh (IPS: 1996: BH) has been appointed ADGP (Budget, Appeal and Welfare) replacing Paras Nath who has now been posted as ADGP, CID.
- M R Nayak (IPS: 1998: BH) has been appointed as ADGP, Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP), replacing Ravindran.
- Kim (IPS: 2008: BH) has been posted as DIG CID.

Probationary IPS officer Harsh Vardhan, who had cleared UPSC in first attempt, dies in road accident on his way to take up first posting
A tragic road accident claimed the life of a probationary IPS officer, Harsh Vardhan, in Karnataka’s Hassan district on Sunday. The young officer, who had recently completed his training, was on his way to assume his duties as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) in Hassan city on Monday.
The accident occurred while Vardhan was traveling from Holenarasipura town to Hassan city in a government vehicle assigned to the District Armed Reserve. Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle's tyre burst near Kittanegadi village, close to Hassan. The car overturned and rolled multiple times, leading to severe injuries. Despite being rushed to a hospital by locals, Vardhan succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the vehicle, Manje Gowda, also sustained injuries in the incident.
The incident drew attention and condolences from senior officials and political leaders. Hassan Superintendent of Police Mohammed Sujeetha, Assistant Superintendent of Police Venkatesh Naidu, and IGP Boralingaiah visited the hospital to pay their respects and gather details about the accident. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiahexpressed his grief over the untimely loss, noting the tragedy of such an incident occurring just as the officer’s hard work was coming to fruition. Who was Harsh Vardhan?
Harsh Vardhan had completed his training at the Karnataka Police Academy in Mysuru and was traveling to Hassan after reporting to Inspector General of Police (Central Range) Boralingaiah. Originally from Bihar, his family resided in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. A civil engineering graduate from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Vardhan had achieved the 153rd rank in the UPSC examination, clearing it in his first attempt.
