Neha’s research interest concerns a relatively recent entrant into the broad umbrella of Indian Writing in English: Graphic Narratives. Her PhD thesis, titled ‘A Study of an Emerging Genre: The Indian Graphic Novel in English (1994−2015)’, submitted to BITS Goa, is an inquiry into the origins and nature of the Indian Graphic Novel and its relationship with an emergent professional-managerial class in the wake of the economic reforms of 1991.
Alongside working within the field of visual culture, she is also interested in women’s literature, popular culture, and postmodernism.
Neha has a Master of Arts (MA) in English Literature from the University of Delhi and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in the same from Miranda House.
She has previously worked for the digital media startup The Quint and continues to write extensively for new media platforms like The Wire, Scroll, Agents of Ishq, Strange Horizons and EPW Engage. In 2023, she was shortlisted for the Rama Mehta Writing Grant for short fiction.
