Afton Williamson (born 1984) is an American actress, who portrayed the character of Talia Bishop in season 1 of The Rookie.

Williamson was born in Toledo, Ohio. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Eastern Michigan University and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Alabama Shakespeare Festival.

Career[]

Williamson started as the understudy to Kerry Washington in the 2010 Broadway play Race before succeeding Washington in the role of Susan. Later she has made her television debut appearing in an episode of The Good Wife. Williamson later guest starred on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Blue Bloods, and Elementary. She had a recurring roles on CBS drama A Gifted Man from 2011 to 2012 as Autumn, and the first season of the television series Nashville as Makena. From 2014 to 2015, she had series regular role in the Cinemax network original series Banshee. In film, she has made her debut playing supporting role opposite Adepero Oduye in the 2011 drama Pariah directed by Dee Rees.

In 2016, Williamson was cast in a leading role on the VH1 drama series The Breaks. She starred as Officer Wiggins in the 2016 HBO miniseries The Night Of. Other television roles include Cinemax's Banshee, Showtime's Homeland and NBC's Shades of Blue. Her film credits include Man on a Ledge and Pariah.

In 2018, Williamson was cast as Talia Bishop on The Rookie.

On July 26, 2019, it was announced that Williamson would not be returning for Season 2. (TVLine) On August 4, 2019, Williamson stated that her reason for leaving the show was racism and sexual harassment she was subject to.

Born in the town of Toledo, Ohio, actress Afton Williamson got her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Eastern Michigan University. Interested in pursuing her theater studies further, Williamson took part in the Alabama Shakespeare Festival where she earned a Master of Fine Arts.
