Wendie Malick (born December 13, ) is an American actress and former fashion model, known for her roles in various television comedies. She starred as Judith Tupper Stone in the HBO sitcom Dream On and as Nina Van Horn in the NBC sitcom Just Shoot Me!, with the latter earning nominations for two Primetime Emmys and a Golden Globe Award.

Malick starred as Victoria Chase in the TV Land comedy series Hot in Cleveland. She is also known for her recurring role as Gayle Buchannon on Baywatch as well as Ronee Lawrence on the eleventh and final season of Frasier. Her film credits include Scrooged, The American President, Racing Stripes, and Confessions of a Shopaholic. Malick has made over 50 guest appearances on television shows, primarily on comedies, and starred in a number of made-for-television films. In animation, she has voiced Burdine Maxwell in the first season of Bratz, Beatrice Horseman on the Netflix series BoJack Horseman and Eda Clawthorne on the Disney Channel series The Owl House.

Malick was born on December 13, , in Buffalo, New York, the daughter of Gigi, a former model, and Kenneth Malick (–), who worked in sales. Her paternal grandfather, Ayad Malick, was an Egyptian from a Coptic Christian family who met her grandmother Sarah Belle Float, a Pentecostal missionary, in Her other ancestry is French, German, and English. She graduated from Williamsville South High School in Malick is an alumna of the William Esper Studio for the performing arts in Manhattan, New York City.^&#

Biography[]

Nina Van Horn was a famous supermodel in the s and s, and found that when she retired, people forgot her as quickly as they knew her. In a special Biography program about her, Pat Sajack says that no one is able to guess her name and the contestants are sent home. Due to her former status as a supermodel, she has been plagued by an obsession to party all night long and to return to work the following morning with a hangover.

Her partying once caused her to die in (to which she responded, "it was only for twelve minutes, I'm obviously fine!"). Nina is considered an alcoholic partially due to her casual nip of alcohol during the day at work. She is also, if no longer an addict, extremely experienced in recreational pharmacy with a wide knowledge of (and access to) uppers, downers, mood regulators and hallucinogenic compounds (she is able to identify not only that a Chinese sweet Lemon Wacky Hello is a hallucinogen, but also its chemical make up, by taste alone).

Her slow witted and even foolish demeanor create a lot of embarrassing situations for her character.

Nina is considered an alcoholic partially due to her casual nip of alcohol during the day at work. Due to her former status as a supermodel, she has been plagued by an obsession to party all night long and to return to work the following morning with a hangover. She is also, if no longer an addict, extremely experienced in recreational pharmacy with a wide knowledge of (and access to) uppers, downers, mood regulators and hallucinogenic compounds (she is able to identify not only that a Chinese sweet Lemon Waky Hello is a hallucinogen, but also its chemical make up, by taste alone). Her slow witted and even foolish demeanor create a lot of embarrassing situations for her character. She is understood to be promiscuous and possibly bixesual.

Nina is obsessed with her age and looks. In one episode, she mentioned that she had the telephone number of a plastic surgeon on speed dial, and when her age is nearly revealed over the P.A., she runs into Jack's office to destroy the P.A. so nobody will know her age.

She chose to settle in Texas and after a quick time among country singers. Nina goes on tour across the USA where she became one with the landscapes and people she met. She appears in some Charity Concerts for the FARM AID, already concerned by Globalisation…. The Tour brings her to New Orleans where she finds a new passion : BLUES…Finally not so far from the Gypsy songs where she can also express pain, love and joy…Nina understands that very quickly… she dives into her memory and get loose with her voice like a Janis Joplin to whom she is often compared.

NINA sings more and more, BETTE MIDLER, CHUCK BERRY or ERIC BURDON among others ask her to play as a supporting act as they appreciate the true « Rock Energy » and her true feelings on stage.

Since then she is currently touring in the best Jazz and Blues Festival all around tha world : Europe but also Canada, Africa and recently India from where she has brought a new cd/dvd live. Her band is composed of musicians corresponding to her : generous, spontaneous and truthful… her wolves ! ! Like the Silver Bullet Band of Bob Seger, NINA shares and communicates her energy.

Her last cd "Hell of a woman" is a tribute to the 1st Female Blues singers like Ma Rainey, Bessie Smith up to Mildred Bailey and Billie Holiday. Nina brings those women to life again, tells their story and sing in a very revisited way their most committed songs about alcool, drugs, racism or lesbianism. She also wrote a book and tells the amazing lives of those women from the 20's/30's/40's. Nina also run a radio show named : “NINA ON THE ROCKS” on W3Bluesradio on the net. Nina’s radio show is available in Belgium on radio 66 and in Canada on radio NINA VAN HORN is a singer definitely watching the world she lives in.
